LANIC – of course! LANIC has is all. This is a very comprehensive list of resources concerning environmental issues in Latin America (not just the rain forest).
Environment and Latin America Network (ELAN) – the University of Colorado’s center for environmental concerns in Latin America. This site includes resources for research, links to eco-travel sites, discussion groups, and environmental links in Spanish.
Worldbank – this web site is devoted to the environment of Latin America and the Caribbean Region and sponsored by the Worldbank. The page discusses some of the problems in Latin American and some of the projects being undertaken to help.
United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) – the homepage for the UN’s environmental program. Search for environmental issues facing Latin America, research policies, programs, how you can help, and MUCH more! Great site!
Planeta.com – Eco-travel in Latin America and the Caribbean. This site offers a variety of opportunities to explore the unique environments of the Latin American and Caribbean region safely. It offers information on all aspects of the environment from sustainable development to eco-activism news, current environmental research, book lists, etc.

EcoLogic – a non-profit organization that specifically works to help protect and preserve small tropical ecosystems in Latin America while at the same time promoting economic stability in the local setting.
Electric Vehicle Association of the Americas – this unique group is dedicated to the advancement and eventual replacement of all cars in Latin America, Canada, and the U.S. with electric vehicles. Interesting and informative site!
OPEPA – this is the homepage for la Organización para la Educación y Protección Ambiental. A Colombia based environmental group dedicated to the environment of South America. En Espa ñol.
International Institute for Sustainable Development – information galore on Sustainable Development as is pertains, not only to Latin America, but the whole world. Important site with good resources for Latin America environmental issues.
